I don’t know what would help. But if you find out, let everyone else know. Wait, what is it you want to know? Honestly I’m 58 and it’s the same here. I **** it. It makes me feel so doggone stupid.
You can go on hrt if you want to take that risk. Other than that, just keep your mind challenged and get enough exercise.
One best answer for senior citizens on memory loss is, aging.
For other causes, may i refer you to answers.com on memory loss.
These reports pertains to a study on older people, but I think it is relevant to those younger than the people in the study. I’ve increased my intake of the nutrients reported.
Menopause itself.
Reed, have you talked to your doctor – if not you should do so.
Your doctor can help going through the change, so your not so miserable.
Memory loss has been a very slow process for me.
I do forget and some things in my past are becoming vague.
We are told to exercise our mind and I do that through the computer every day, but do check with your doctor.
DeeJay. 73 and holding.
Do mind exercises
That was 8 yrs ago. . . i remember that (long term) lol . . . I really wish I knew. . . I’d bottle it and become a billionaire . . . lol lol
You are normal, it starts to happen that your mind just goes blank, all of my friends do the same thing, we just say oops and continue on till we remember what we forgot. If you think it is worse than normal then see a doctor, otherwise you may as well stuff your money down a rat hole. Life goes on, you are fine. ;0)
I’m 63 and it was part of the process for me. It passes, but will reappear periodically at least for awhile.
I also woke up in the night with anxiety attacks, which didn’t happen a lot but was hard to deal with at the time. I haven’t had one for several years. Thought I’d mention this in case you might experience it along the way.
Overall, the whole event wasn’t bad. I don’t think I ever had a hot flash. If I did, I don’t remember it … hehe
See your doctor. It could be a symptom of one of many problems that can cause memory loss.
Hormones. Also fatigue from the loss of sleep that’s so common with menopause. Try ginko biloba, it helped me a lot. I’m also 56 and had my last period three years ago. My memory is back to normal and I can remember back to when I was 20 months old.
Welcome to the club. I started all that “senior moment” stuff when I hit 52.
I established routines such as always keeping my purse in the same place, posting a calendar, and I printed out a skeleton shopping list. I add other stuff to the shopping list but I don’t have to worry about forgetting things like milk, bread, etc.
I’ve learned that if you want to guarantee you’ll forget something, concentrate on it really hard. You’ll remember that name, phone number or the clothes in the dryer two hours later.
You’ve got to enlist the support of spouses and friends who have forgetful moments. Like this morning, I was washing dishes and my husband was taking out trash. “Dennis Di Concini,” he shouted out. Yesterday we were talking about the Keating Five incident and we couldn’t remember the other Arizona senator involved even though we’d voted for him.
Get some exercise. Play some “brain games.” I play free cell and mine sweeper on my computer. My neighbor does crossword puzzles.
And, of course I answer questions on YA.
Avoid unnecessary stress. I used to love scary movies. I still like them occasionally, but I cheat. I have my grown sons watch them first and fill me in.
Whatever you do….laugh…laugh a lot. My forgetfulness doesn’t seem to be getting worse…but it hasn’t gotten better.
I wish I knew, I am always forgetting things, like this, what was the question again.
I’m very frustrated over my memory loss – I’m 57. I have found that huge amounts – ‘way more than the MDR – of B12 really helps and I just recently bought Relacore on the recommendation of a friend who said it truly helps him. I notice that Relacore has huge amounts of several of the B vitamins, among other things. Relacore presents itself as a stress reliever and while I don’t consider myself highly stressed as a rule, I know that when I do get stressed the memory thing worsens. And I know it helps me to work my brain – I read constantly and I play a mean game of Scrabble. Lists and notes are imperative for me … I should add that it would be best to talk to your doctor first .. Good luck and bless you -
hormonal levels do influence cognitive functions. Memory and ability to concentrate issues led me to choose HRT— it helped dramatically and I continue to use it 20 years later, low dosage patch.
WELL…. LET’S SEE NOW….
FUNNY…. I SEEM TO HAVE FORGOTTEN JUST WHAT
CAUSES THAT AILMENT…. WAIT…. NO, THAT’S NOT IT.
I do not know any one with memory loss at such a young age my memory was as sharp as a tack at that age so are my adult kids. Gosh see your Doc..
